Amherst, NY Divorce Attorney
Going through a divorce is not an easy process for anyone involved, but an experienced divorce attorney can help to make it go a bit more smoothly. Here at Pusatier Sherman Abbott & Sugarman, we offer divorce attorney services to clients throughout Amherst, NY and the surrounding areas. Whether your divorce is a fault-based or no-fault case, we can help guide you through the process and represent you in court in an effort to deliver the best possible resolution for both parties involved. There are two primary methods to handling divorce cases, and we can help you choose which is best for your particular situation.
Divorce Lawyer and Divorce Litigation
This is the more severe of the two and requires each party to obtain a divorce lawyer to represent him or her throughout the proceedings. In some cases, your divorce attorney can negotiate with your spouse's attorney to come to a resolution that is agreeable to both of you. However, if the case can not be resolved outside of the courtroom, we will stand by you and plead your case in court before a judge, who will make the final decision. We will do the best we can to ensure that you are comfortable with the proceedings as much as possible.
Mediation With a Divorce Attorney
If your divorce is at least somewhat amicable or there are minimal assets to divide, divorce mediation may be a better option for you. In this situation, a mediator will evaluate both sides of the case and present you and your spouse with a mutually beneficial selection of options. The mediation process typically can get your case resolved much more quickly than going through litigation, which can often become contentious if neither party is willing to compromise. Mediation is a bit more relaxed, helping to reduce your levels of stress throughout the process.
